Hello from Mrs. White! :-)
Hello THS students. I miss you, and I hope that you and your families are all doing well.
I have put together a list of some great resources that you may want to access to enhance your music learning and practice during the time that you are learning at home. Just click on any of the bold and highlighted text to open these resources in a new window. All of the resources that I have listed here are free for your use during this time. As our home page notes, everything here is optional, so no pressure!
Also, I would love to hear from you anytime, just even to say hello or to tell me what you have been up to these days. I can be reached at [email protected]. I would also be happy to assist you continue in your musical studies in any way I can. I am available to 'meet' during school hours, or we can arrange an alternate time that suits you better.

GENERAL MUSIC
- Song of the Day page - Each school day, I will add a new song or video that I think you may enjoy, but may not have found on your own. I will include some information and/or comments about why I selected that song or video for you.
- Please send me your suggestions! I would be happy to post your suggestions. Just send me your name, the video link, and your comments as to why you chose that song.
- CBC Inside Voices Project (All ages) - This is a month-long project that involves four free online vocal lessons from Canadian singer and professional voice coach, Jasmine Denham. The project invites all to learn the song 'Together We Are One', then record and submit their version for all of Canada to hear! See our Song of the Day page for April 21st or visit the CBC site linked above to hear the song.
- www.musicplayonline.com (for Grades K-6) - This is the website we already access a lot in our elementary classes, and it supports our key resource program, Musicplay. Poison Melody and other games and activities you already know can be found here. There are lots of songs for each grade level, and there are activities for recorder and other instruments (such as guitar and ukulele, if you have them) as well. Free access for all THS students.
- https://www.musictheory.net/ (for Grades 5 and up) - This is a great resource for free theory lessons and exercises.
- Visit the specific link below to improve your pitch reading skills! You can adjust the clef, difficulty, key signatures, etc. in the settings tab (the gear icon) in the top right corner.
- Breezin' Through Theory & Breezin' Through Composing (for Grades 5 and up) - *Use the NextGen edition*
- This is free until June 30th. This is a very high quality program. It provides an excellent way to learn and/or review concepts for theory and composition. Students can login using the information below. Once logged in, they will select their class name from the list. Students must enter their name the same way every time (ie. Jane Doe) so progress is tracked consistently from one visit to another. If other family members would like to try this as well, they can log in the same way and join the class called 'Other'. All participants are encouraged to start at the beginning to ensure that there are no gaps in understanding.
- Important Tech Tips:
- Log in here https://breezinthru.com/login
- Username: btfun_4893 Password: tone804
- When you log in, select your class from the list and type your name the exact same way each time (no typos) or you will not see all your results.
- Remember to click “submit” after you complete a drill/reflection or your result will not be recorded.
- See your Theory results in 3 places: Drill page, Chapter Table of Contents, and your Student Dashboard (website-subscriber area). Do well and collect some fun rewards!
- Student Compositions: After you’ve created a composition upload the “audio file” to your student dashboard — so you can play your tunes from there. It’s very cool! Upload instructions in dashboard.

- https://piano-player.info/ Visit this link to play on a 2 octave digital keyboard. You can even play and record your own songs. Flash player must be enabled in your browser.
- MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL (All Grades)
- I have a YouTube channel now!
- My Public Videos - My first video series is for recorder players, because if you're going to play the recorder in a crowded house, play nicely! :-) Instructional videos are numbered.
- Beware...I'm new at this, and I much prefer teaching and performing live (even though I don't get interrupted this new way, ha ha!). It is not the same without you!
- My Playlists - I have started a few playlists I hope that you will like. There may be some overlap between them.
- Song of the Day playlist - the featured videos from our Song of the Day page mentioned above.
- You can subscribe to my playlist or my channel to get notifications as I add things in YouTube.

BAND
Again, this is all optional...
In order to maintain the level of skill and conditioning you have built so far this year, continued regular practice is highly recommended. Even 20-30 minutes every other day can be very beneficial, and good for your mental health, too! Play for fun, and play for joy. You can practice the pieces you have received in class (some links to recordings are included below), or just play anything you want.
IMPORTANT: Always aim to make your best sounds, so that the people you are sharing space with will still be happy to do so. (This is imperative for your own health and safety. :-) ) Also, please make sure to clean your instrument and mouthpiece regularly.
Grade 6 Band
Please work on your Concert B flat scale notes and anything else you would like.
Junior Band (Gr. 7/8)
Senior Band (Gr. 9-12)
Drumline
I will make a playlist of cool drumline and marching band videos on my YouTube channel.
