As today is your last day, this will be our last Song of the Day. This has been a school year like no other, and whether in school or out, this unique time has provided us all with an education none of us could have possibly planned for. Wishing you all a wonderful summer, and a return school life as we knew it (or as close to it as we can get) very soon. It has been a privilege to be your teacher.
Much Love Always,
Mrs. White

May 7th is the birth date of two very influential composers of the Romantic Period, so there are two songs today, one for each composer.
|
Johannes Brahms - 1833 - 1897
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky - 1840 - 1893

- 'Main Title Theme from STAR WARS' - Conducted by the song's composer, John Williams, and performed by the Boston Pops Orchestra during their 1993 tour of Japan. Why this song today? Because in recent years, May the 4th has been known as 'Star Wars Day,' because of course... 'May the Fourth Be With You'. :-)
- 'Imperial March from STAR WARS' - And for another awesome live recording, check out this new one of John Williams just recently conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. John Williams was nearing his 88th birthday when this was filmed in January of this year.
- And check out that spectacular concert hall! This performance took place in the Golden Hall of The Musikverein in Vienna, Austria, which is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. It is one of the most beautiful and famous music halls in the world.
